Here is a small sample of my card designs, original art work and reproductions.

Tigris, f,8r. from the Aberdeen Bestiary.
The Aberdeen Bestiary is one of my favourite manuscripts. The knight portrayed on the page, who is stealing a tiger cub, has thrown a mirror at the tigress to stop her pursuit of him. for once she catches sight of the mirror she becomes transfixed by her own reflection.
The Fisher King. MMXXii.

When conceiving this painting, I had the wounded Fisher King from Arthurian legend primarily in mind, hence the title of the painting. However, I also wanted to present him in the style of a merman (f.202v.) from the Luttrell Psalter which has been my favourite grotesque from the aforementioned book for quite some time now.
The source material has been copied in miniature á bas de page.
As the Fisher King is the Keeper of the Grail, the work is steeped in Catholic imagery which is appropriate for the subject matter.
Furthermore, I thought it would be interesting to dress my Fisher King in contemporary dress, at least contemporary with the nineteen eighties!
The work took me eight months to complete from conception to completion. I hope you like it.
